Beached

The craft was deliberately run up onto dry land

Bombed

The vessel was bombed which caused it to be lost

Bilged

The vessel suffered a hole below the waterline causing it to be lost

Broken up

The vessel was broken up

Burnt

The vessel was lost due to fire

Capsized

The vessel capsized before it was lost

Collision

The vessel suffered a collision with another vessel

Depth charged

The vessel was depth-charged before it was lost

Explosion

An explosion caused the loss

Foundered

The vessel filled with water and sank

Grounded

The vessel was accidentally run up on to land causing damage which caused the subsequent loss

Gun action

The vessel was lost because of gunfire

Laid up

The vessel was laid up

Mined

The vessel was lost due to the explosion from a mine

Rammed

The vessel was rammed by another

Scuttled

The vessel was deliberately sunk

Stranded

The vessel was accidentally run up on to land

Torpedoed

The vessel was lost due to damage from a torpedo

Wrecked

The vessel was run ashore
