September 2008 A one-day course in 'Data Management in Maritime Archaeology using Site Recorder 4' will be run after the AIMA conference on 28th September at Flinders University in Adelaide. July 2008 A paper on 'A Digital Information Management System for Excavation Recording' will be presented at the Sixth World Archaeological Congress (WAC) A paper about SR4 on 'Development of a Digital Data Management System for Maritime Archaeology' will be presented at IKUWA3, the 3rd International Congress on Underwater Archaeology SR4 will be used for recording during the fieldwork for the Firebrand Project in the Isles of Scilly, the continuing pre-disturbance survey of the fireship Firebrand (1707). May 2008 SR4 will be used as the information management system for the project to record the stern of HMS Colossus (1798) in the Isles of Scilly. April 2008 The Maryland Historical Trust purchased a copy of Site Recorder 4 for state projects and when working with several volunteer groups such as the Maritime Archaeology and Historical Society (MAHS) and the Institute for Maritime History (IMH). March 2008 Site Recorder 4 was bought by Archeonauta s.l. for use in maritime projects in Spain. The newly created Centre for Maritime Archaeology at the University of Alexandria in Egypt purchased Site Recorder 4, this project was developed in collaboration with the University of Southampton, NAS and a number of other organisations. A training course in SR4 has been included in the curriculum at the UNESCO / Asia-Pacific Regional field school for Maritime Archaeology held in Galle, Sri Lanka. February 2008 The Site Recorder 4 GIS was demonstrated at the International Shipwreck Conference to be held in Plymouth, UK on 9th February December 2007 The Western Australian Maritime Museum upgraded their copies of Site Recorder 3 to Site Recorder 4. November 2007 Shipped Site Recorder 4 to RPM Nautical Foundation, a non-profit organisation utilising state-of-the-art technology to advance research in the field of nautical archaeology A paper about SR4 on 'The Use of GIS in Maritime Archaeology - The Cattewater Wreck Case Study' was given at the NAS 2007 Annual Conference Released Site Recorder version 4.23. This version has tools to allow publication of complete primary data sets as compressed Site files. September 2007 Started the migration of site data from the US ironclad USS Monitor to Site Recorder 4. The data is being transferred from an existing ArcView GIS to Site Recorder on behalf of NOAA. Recorder has also been an integral part of the surveying techniques taught in

In 2006, Site Recorder was introduced to Historic Preservation Office (HPO)
staff from throughout Site Recorder was used on the 2007 fieldwork on the wreck of the fire ship Firebrand (1707) in the Isles of Scilly, a joint University of Bristol and CISMAS project sponsored by Sonardyne International Ltd and the University of Bristol Alumni Foundation. Site Recorder 4 is was selected as the main software system for recording, registering, and cataloguing artifacts from fieldwork through the conservation process. Site Recorder 4 and a beta version of Site Searcher were used on a high resolution magnetometer survey of the Cattewater wreck in Plymouth UK. A copy of Site Recorder 4 was shipped to Atlantis Expedition April 2007 Site Recorder 4 has been shipped to the Egyptian Department of Underwater Archaeology for projects on Egypt's coast, Alexandria and on the river Nile. for Maritime Archaeology & Conservation have chosen Site Recorder as
their Geographic Information System to be used for all current and future
project work. Following this decision a number of copies of Site Recorder
were shipped to each organisation. A
statement from Donny Hamilton on the CMAC web site describes why the software
was chosen: "Effective April 2007 CMAC adopted Site
Recorder 4, developed by 3H Consulting Ltd. as the program to be used to record
survey data, excavation and mapping notes, maps, excavation plans, photographs,
artifact conservation details, and relevant background or historical data.
Site Recorder 4 is becoming a standard among major institutions conducting
underwater archaeology and it has proved to be an ideal mechanism for
maintaining uniformity between different projects. By having a common
program capable of documenting all aspects and phases of an archaeological
project, sharing of data is facilitated between projects and institutions. The Loan copies of Site Recorder have been sent to the US Minerals Management Service, the Florida Public Archaeology Network and L. A. Landry & Associates, Inc. for evaluation. Site Recorder 4 has been chosen by the Mardi Gras Project for the deep shipwreck excavation in the Gulf of Mexico, USA. Site Recorder will be used as a real-time mapping, data management and recording tool. September 2006 CISMAS started their Mount's Bay Survey with a weeks geophysical survey using the society's new C-MAX sidescan sonar and a hired Geometrics 881 magnetometer. Over 80 km of sidescan lines were collected and more than 100 targets have been identified from the sidescan data alone. CISMAS are using a prototype copy of Site Searcher for collecting and processing the data along with Site Recorder 4 for mapping.
