Site Recorder Release Notes

Release notes are specific to each version of the application and later versions include the features from previous releases.

V4.23 FEATURES

- Package Wizard:
The Package Tool has been replaced with a Package Wizard that can package Site files for sharing, for publication on the Web 
or publication via CD or DVD. 

- Compressed Site Files:
Site programs can now open compressed Site files with the filename extension '.RCZ'

- Upgrade Alert Messages:
Site programs will periodically check to see if a new version of that program exists then alert you that an upgrade is 
available.

- Offset Point Depths:
You can now add depth (or height) measurements to offset points and the position of the point is moved to accommodate the new 
depth 

- Measure Tool:
The Measure tool can now be used to measure between multiple points along a curve or Polyline 

- Copy and Paste:
You can now copy and paste complete Layers and Projects


V4.22 FEATURES

- Image Preview:
The Image Preview display is used to show images and photographs linked to objects in the Site. If an object that has images 
linked to it is selected on the Chart or in a list the Image Preview display will show the current image for that object. By 
clicking on a number of objects in turn the images linked to it will be displayed.

- List View:
Added a column to each list showing if each object in the list has an image linked to it 

- New Site Wizard:
The new Site Wizard is shown when the program is opened for the first time or when selecting New Site from the File menu. The 
New Site Wizard can help you configure the program correctly based on the location of the site itself. The first option is to 
set the name for the site and the folder to put it in. 

- Open Site Dialog:
The Open Site File dialog shows a list of the most recently opened Site files and provides a quick way to open them.

- Trim tool:
A tool to trim and extend Polylines has been added, this can be used to shorten Polylines or to extend them so they meet with 
another line or a circle.

- Drawing Frames:
The way Drawing Frames work has been changed. You can now trace over the drawing frame image directly onto the Chart rather 
than using the Shape Editor. This allows the drawings from multiple Frames to be stitched together more easily.

- Site Installer:
A new program called 'Site Installer' has been developed to assist Site file publication on CD or DVD. Thos program is used to 
install the Site Reader program, open the Site file on the CD or to copy the Site files from CD to your computer.

- Getting Started:
A quick 'Getting Started' manual is now shown the first time the program is started.

V4.20 FEATURES

- Chart improvements:
The chart now works much faster, especially with image basemaps. Large closed Polylines can now be filled allowing you to show areas of land filled with an attractive colour and fill style. A full screen display option has been added as well as the ability to remember and name specific views of the data.

- File format updated:
The format of the Site file has changed making the overall file size smaller, larger files may see a 50% reduction in size. As the V4.20 files cannot be read by earlier versions of Site Recorder the option to save the file in V4.19 format has been added.

- Tours:
Tours are one of the significant additions in this release. Tours are used to guide users around the data in a Site file by showing selected views as an animation with audio commentary and pop-up images. 

- Security of published Site files: 
Published Site files are now more secure. Options to disallow printing for both chart and lists has been added along with the ability to disallow screen capture, packaging and sharing of Site files. Copyright notices can now be added to the chart.

- New Site Wizard added: 
A new Site Wizard has been added to help get you started on new projects. Among other features this tool allows you to set the centre point for your site given co-ordinates in latitude and longitude or Eastings and Northings.

- Image Resize Tool added:
A tool has been added to resize images. This tool can resize a batch of images making them all the same height and width or the same file size.

- Scale and Align Basemap Tools added:
Basemaps can be scaled to a known distance or aligned to ground control points using these new tools.

- Export Windows MetaFile (WMF) added
Chart images can now be exported as Windows MetaFiles (WMF), these can be directly embedded in reports and presentations giving a much higher quality picture than can be achieved with an image file (TIF, JPG etc)

- AutoSave added: 
The AutoSave feature will automatically save your Site file after a predefined interval.

- Data Points:
Site Recorder now supports Data Points, Data Layers and Legends. Data points can be used to display georeferenced data values representing magnetometer data, bathymetric depth data, probing survey depth measurements and so on. Data points can now be imported from CSV and delimited text files.

- File Security:
You can now nominate the folder to use for the two backup Site files that get created when a Site file is saved. The folder can be on a different hard drive so if the main drive fails the backup should still be recovered.

- Properties Pages:
AutoComplete has been added to the control used to select options from a list. Type in the first few characters of the option to be selected and the control will pick the option you require.
Using the context menu on the property page, a preview of the current image on the main page can be shown.

- Capture Display Tool
The capture display tool will make a copy of the currently selected display and then save it as an image file.

- Layers: 
The Show Text option now works on Text objects as well as labels for Point objects and you can switch text on or off for all Layers in a Project using the context menu in the Layers display

- Join Polyline Tool: Selected Polylines can now be joined, this is useful for tidying up imported coastlines

- Image Basemap World Files: Image basemaps now use any valid world file for any image type

- Scan Tool: Support for scanners has been added to Image and Source property pages and to a new Scan Image Tool.

- Move and Rotate Tools: Objects can now be moved and rotated using the arrow keys.

- Shape Editor: Import and export shape from a DXF file has been added.

- Measurements Tool: Distance and depth measurements can be added quickly using the new Measurements Tool.

- Units: Support for centimetres has been added.

- Site: The Site version can now be recorded.


KNOWN ISSUES

- GeoTIFF: Some GeoTIFF files with embedded georeferencing information are not read correctly. Use world files instead.
- Problems can occur if shared files have the same object names as objects in the main file
- Installer: The installer requires you to manually remove any earlier versions of Site Recorder.
- Undo delete: The ability to undo object deletes does not work correctly.
- Moving an artefact on the chart leaves a trail
- The positions of toolbars is not remembered between sessions
